Puerto Rico Adventures

It’s been long overdue since I’ve shared some of my travel adventures with you all! I’ve been traveling a lot for the past couple of months, and finally found some time to gather some photos from Puerto Rico.  I went to Puerto Rico in March and boy was it such a fun experience.  I went to celebrate my friends bachelorette party.  It was a refreshing alternative to the usual bachelorette party in Vegas. Plus, it was a perfect excuse to visit another country and make a vacation out of it.IMG_7075 IMG_7081We stayed at the beautiful La Concha Resort. Perfect spot close to bars and restaurants. IMG_7070I am ALL about excursions, exploring, and going on new adventures.  My girls and I took a day trip to visit the El Yunque Rain Forest. El Yunque is the sole tropical rain forest in the U.S. National Forest System.  They don’t call it a rain forest for nothing either.  When we got there, it immediately started raining.  You can plan day trips out to visit this beautiful place filled with a wide variety of native plants and wildlife. IMG_7122 IMG_7129IMG_7127I can never get tired of palm leaves.  They are definitely my kind of shade.  I absolutely loved being engulfed in so much lush greenery and being one with nature. IMG_7138IMG_7157 IMG_7201 IMG_7151 IMG_7163 IMG_7166 We also got to check out Luquillo Beach for a day of R&R.  It was a perfect little beach for some fun in the sun.  Stay tuned for more Puerto Rico pics from Old San Juan!

Last month my now 8-month preggo sister had a maternity photo shoot with the very talented and fabulous StoryBox Collection at Laguna Beach, CA.  Winter in SoCal this year felt like summer.  I mean, 75-80 degree weather in December?  How amazing is that!  So it was only appropriate and perfect to have a photo shoot at the beach.  I obviously was a lil party crasher and was luckily able to sneak in a few minutes with our photographer, Ellie, to take some shots with my beautiful sister.   We absolutely loved how the pictures turned out.   Please check out http://storyboxcollection.com for more of her awesome photography.

My sister and I decided to wear kimonos for this shoot because we felt it was the perfect beach outfit to frolic in the sand with.  It’s fun, loose, laid back, and has that Cali-cool vibe.  I personally love kimonos because you can dress them down with denim cutoff jeans and chunky boots, or dress them up with a nice dress, or wear them as a cover-up at the beach.  The links above are a couple kimonos I think are adorable.

One thing I love the most about Miami and South Florida is the warm and clean beaches.  Growing up and living in California, I was always surrounded by the Pacific Ocean……which is sooooo much different from the Atlantic I must say.  The waters in South Beach felt warm and clean enough for me to just float all day in the ocean.  It’d be a miracle to see me float all day in the beaches here in CA because it’s just too cold for me.  Yeah, I get uncomfortable when I’m cold.

My family and I definitely  took advantage and made the most of our days here in South Beach.  To be able to have 80 degree weather and go to a sunny beach in October…uhm, yes please!   There’s something about the ocean that puts me at ease and makes me just slow down my thoughts and just freakin relax.  Which I most def needed to do!  Wish I could go back to this already!!!!

Like Lil Wayne says, “Life is a beach and I’m just playing in the sand.”
